Surface Stitching Category from 2011 Judged Show

Projects which feature the use of any stitch with a threaded needle in which the resulting stitch lays on the surface of the foundation material. Stitches may be flat, textured, built-up on the surface, single or multiple, or combinations and/or variations. It includes crewel work, cut work, Brazilian embroidery, shadow work, shisha embroidery, silk and metal thread work, stumpwork, and applique which is not quilted.
