A friend dropped by on Sunday. He said that he had a problem, and dropped off his booze with us. Takes a brave guy to admit to something like that and take steps.

All of my uncle's work was done on the night he passed away. Even the little fix that he was doing to my grandma's earring for her, that she had dropped off with him. Everything taken care of, all repairs and mountings done, all the bills paid. I really don't know what else to say, but I feel like I should say something. I talked to him more in the last year than I think I had for the last 5, and I'd like to think that some of my enthusiasm for what he did rubbed off. I miss him, and I'm going to miss him.

T just came back from the Grotto to pick K up. He was drunk, and parked, engine running, in the front yard. Upon seeing his condition, I got a clone to drive him and his wagon home, while I drove a chase car to bring the clone back. Of course, as soon as we step outside, a cop car pulls up. T got out without a ticket or jailtime fortunately, amazingly enough given some of the things that he said. Personal favorite:

Cop: "Y'know, you shouldn't be so obvious parking on the lawn."
T: "Y'mean I should have parked in the yellow?"
Cop: "No, you're drunk. You shouldn't be driving."

And after that, all was (pretty) well and we returned home.

Micro test tomorrow, here's to hoping for a better score than last time, I've worked all the review problems six ways from Sunday, so I hope to be prepared. Wish me luck.

Grues are Super-Absorbent

A friend has been stressing out over school and stuff in her relationship lately. It's kind of weird being the literal shoulder to cry on. On the upside, she smiled eventually, and shirts don't take that long to dry.

Too damned early in the morning. I'm going to start setting my alarm for 8. My alarm goes off at 830 every day, and I'm still just a tad late to most of my early classes.

Going to STL this weekend for a food run in preparation for Bunker Halloween. Going to get to Lukas Liquor, Sam's Club, some asian store, hopefully Jay's International, and hopefully Penzy's as well. We go through cumin for chili and curries and such like we were eating it from a bowl with milk, but Penzy's has 1lb of whole seeds for just under 9$ or 1 lb of whole coriander for just under 7. Awesome prices and great quality.

Need to call parents and see if either of them is going to be in town this weekend.

UIUC Reflections/Projections Review

UIUC Reflections Projections.

The trip down was long. We stopped about 1.3 hours in for Krispy Kreme in Eureka.

Our fun trip was further compounded by the clone missing an exit and having to come back for it. Also, we took a differenthighway than the one our directions called for. Though it followed a parallel track, so we didn't really lose any time by taking it.

Once we got to Champaign-Urbana, we didn't know where the hotel was. Someone was supposed to print off directions to the hotel, but didn't, so we ended up called Alpha Clone, who gave us navigation sufficient to get us to the hotel. Once there, we all jumped into the one room they gave us (they were still cleaning the second), and changed for the career fair.

UIUC ACM Reflections/Projections

Going to the UIUC ACM conference tomorrow and all weekend. Should be a good time. Going to hit the job fair as hard as I can. Unfortunately, the printer out of toner, I need to get to campus EARLY tomorrow and get some resumés printed out. Leaving at 6am. Should be a good time.

Hurray for Non-Suck

Got back my Econ and Math Modeling tests today. Econ was a 78%, which I can certainly live with, considering how bad I thought it was going to be. Math got a 90%, which rocks. I also turned in my Math project today, first stopping by his office to see if there was anything I could do to improve it. He liked it, I fixed up a few things, so there's no reason I shouldn't get a high grade on that either.

Hurray for non suck.

Holy mother of shit!

My cpu is running at 102. Constantly. No wonder it resets when it plays mp3s for too long. WTF?!?!?

...pretending I'm a superman...

I've had the Goldfinger song "Superman" stuck in my head all day. Except when I sang My Way, but then it came back.

Played golf with Matt, Eric, and Carrie today. I got low 60 something I think. Not good. Carrie got a 90 or a 50 depending on how you score it. I was pissed off at the week and depressed and kept fucking up my swing, the tendons and elbow in the right arm got all fuxxed up. You'd figure after 4.5 long, lonely years in Rolla, that my right arm would be a little less susceptable to casual damage.

Matt's loan money came in, which means that the house gets a big cash transfusion, and we got some beer. Tasty, tasty beer. Don is in town, visiting for the weekend.

Teh week of suck.

Uncle Kevin died.
Matt had some issues.
Big tests. Probably bombed one of them. Maybe both.
Matt has kidney stone. Maybe.
It's only Thursday.

I think I still have a cigar left. I think I'll save it for tomorrow, when the Big Dick Gnomes come to sodomize me and pour sugar in my gas tank.

My uncle died in his sleep Monday morning.

In the words of Matt:

"And she took the fucking bedsheets!"

Cyser

The cyser was bottled. The cyser is GOOD. Even before bottle aging, which will smooth out it's taste, the cyser is sweet (an accomplishment given the champagne yeast used), and tasty. And VERY alcoholic. Champagne yeast should need to get to ~20% abv before it dies out, and since this stuff is still slightly sweet, and all the yeast has fallen out, it is probably about 40 proof.

Going to have to save a few bottles for out of town friends who might be interested in trying some. I might also think about making some for my family as Christmas presents.
