The cider is now bottled, and shall be ready for consumption in about a week. Having left it to ferment for 3-4x it's usual time made it quite dry, and a bit more alcoholic than I was shooting for. Still good though.

The comment about taking care of Kat in the last post was in regards to her getting food poisoning. Having heard of at least one other person to whom this has happened, I'm going to refrain from eating Jack's brand frozen pizzas, just to be sure. It was a cheese pizza no less, however, it seems that WalMart stockers often let frozen foods thaw, then throw them back in the freezer, which is probably what happened.

Dfenster made dinner tonight. Marinated a pork loin in the super-sour plum wine I made a few months back, threw in some brown sugar, and probably some other stuff. At least one member of the house thinks that it's a success, so I guess the stuff is good for something after all.

A note on fiscal responsibility. I spent a lot of money last month. I can live with that given that quite a chunk of it was for the house, and will be taken off of this month's rent. At the same time, the spending discipline I used to have when I was on a limited undergrad income (cash from parents, cash from loans) seems to have disappeared. As soon as I get the immediate work out of the way, I need to work up a new budget with columns for rent, entertainment, food, gas, and SAVINGS.

However, I'm also sorely tempted to buy a laptop. Really, really tempted. However, that would cost me quite a chunk of cash. And while I'm certain that I would be more productive on it, I also can't do the work I'm getting paid to do on it. (Though I could do thesis work, general coding stuff, etc, with much more speed and ease of use.)

Eh. In any case, I need to get my money working for me in some fashion. I'm 24 and getting a slow start on this whole savings thing. If there's one thing I've learned from my dad, it's the power of compound interest. Which gives reason to my powerful desire to start socking cash away into anything that bears an interest rate.

In other news, I stopped off at the CoC today, gave them their 5$, and now I simply have to update my resumé and pay attention to the jobtracker site.

I also talked to Adam about my thesis proposal. I've got a 5 page paper due Wednesday in CompE 401, which I should be done with about midway through tomorrow. Then I can start a literature search to see if such work has been done before. If not, then I can probably get to work on it asap.

So, research paper, literature search, thesis proposal, update resumé, create budget, and perhaps get some kind of savings plan off the ground.

I'm also taking Kat to KC this weekend (or I'll let her drive herself), need to mail tax stuff back home, and start shuffling the resumé off to people like Dbenne and Dlandes.

Hmmm, whodathunk that I would have so much to say after just a day or two?
