At the beginning of this semester, I transfered from a computer science class, to a computer engineering/systems engineering class. I was under the impression that this had been cleared with those whose concern it was that I take the proper classes. So today, when I went to turn in my Form 1 (piece of paper describing my degree path and how the requirements are to be met), I was rather dumbfounded when this turned out to not be the case.
There was a misunderstanding at some level. And thus, I need to take another CS class to get my masters degree.
I'm not particularly angry or mad about this, as it's really no one's fault in particular, except perhaps my own. Should I get a job that is not dependent upon my successful completion of my degree in May, I can take take a distance class from UMR to make up for my one-4XX-level-class-shortness. Should any jobs I find require that I possess a masters degree, then I shall have to look elsewhere.
On the bright side, I have an interview with another company this Thursday. The company seems to be doing work with subjects that I have some experience with. They also have a very relaxed work environment, which makes me very eager to make their acquantance. Hopefully they aren't turned off by my new change of status.
We shall see.
