Another trip to StL

This time it was my turn to be driven to St. Louis and get checked out by a doc. Turns out I had strep throat real bad. My tonsils where the size of golfballs, and red with white spots all over them. It was pretty nasty.

On the upside, it seems to be responding well to anti-biotics, so I should be back to getting stuff done whenever a lack of fever indicates that I am no longer infectious.

Kat just got hit with it too of course.

My current project is redesigning my website. The current one is kind of old, and needs a refresher. So I'm redoing the CSS right this time, in hopes of having a layout that's easier to redo in the future. The new looks I'm working on right now is kind of Mondrian in the color scheme and layout. I might go through some other ideas while I'm at it.

I plan on (finally) reworking my blog to match the rest of the site during this process as well.

The passenger side door on the old dodge shadow has been acting up recently. Mostly in that it looks like the hinges are bent, so I'm probably going to have to take it in to a body shop some time soon.

I'm going to be continuing my research for another summer and a semester. This should enable me not only to get my MS, but also get some SAP classes under my belt, as that seems to be something employers are looking for.

I drove to a St. Louis hospital last night. No cause for alarm, no one is dying or anything, but it was a pretty big chunk of the day, so I figured I should mention it. I'll catch up on my sleep tonight, and on the upside, I got a crave case from Whities. Mmmmmm, steam grilled sliders.

In my leisure time recently I've been playing with my new FreeBSD box, making a few minor changes to Girbot (updates whenever the changes get significant), and generally slacking off, as well as occasionally working on my SpamLookUp profile for this blog.

I've also got some kind of neat code to post, yet again, whenever I get around to it. Semi-theoretical stuff that could be production in a few weeks if someone had a reason to put time into it.

Another week, another FOAD

Just got a e-FOAD from the company I was interviewing with. I was impressed that it didn't seem to be a form letter, which I really appreciate.

The summary: You are extremely skilled and qualified for jobs that we don't have any of.

In other news, a few weeks ago I dropped a brick on my foor while rearranging the forge. About a week ago I came to the conclusion that I had broken it. It's all healed up now, but I've got a nice little bump on the break and I can feel it when I put a good amount (calf raise of more than 500lbs) of stress on the foot. I guess it's better than the itching you have to put up with when the bone is mending.

In a relatively humerous turn of events, I am currently waiting on parts for my thesis. I don't know when the COTS stuff I ordered is going to get here, but in the meantime it gives me some space to write my thesis in.

I'm actually enjoying working with LaTeX, I'll probably add it to my resumé any day now. It's giving me really nice professional looking output.

Other than school and work stuff, when I get burned out on sending out resumés, writing the thesis, and working on the final paper for my one class, I generally take off fishing. It's a good way to relax for a while. And all of the places that I go fishing have good cell reception, so I can still get those job calls.

That, and forging. I'm starting to accumulate some pretty nice blades, I just need to get them mounted on hilts and guards so that I can actually call them knives.
