To start off with, I'm home sick today. I've got the creeping bacterial cruds and tonsils the size of golf balls. Going to go see a doc in a couple of minutes. Ahh, the great holiday gifts you get from those closest to you.
The holidays were an interesting mix of people. Friday night I got out of town a bit later than I planned to, and ended up getting into town about 9pm. Then I delivered my gift to the Clones and Danielle to David. The clones used to live in Wisconsin, unfortunately, their favorite brewery (Leinenkugel's) no longer ships to Missouri, and all remnants of their brew on the store shelves are nasty and old. So I delivered a case of Leine's Honey Weiss, which I hope they enjoy.
I crashed in St. Louis that night, then the GF and I drove the 4 hours up to Clinton, MO the next morning. Once there, we saw my family, had lunch, opened gifts, the whole works. It was nice. Then I passed out on a couch for 3 or 4 hours so that I would be in good shape to drive back to StL. The drive back was uneventful except for the constant drizzle that had been going on all day.
Once back in StL, we hooked up with Dave and Steve (the Clones) and Danielle. Deciding that we were all hungry, we discovered via the phonebook, that Denny's Restaurants are open 24/7. Even Christmas Eve. It was good to see everyone again, I miss seeing my friends.
On Sunday, I attended the GF's family's Christmas. I enjoyed doing some food prep, and the h'ors devoures style dinner was quite tasty. The less said about the rest of the evening, the better. I think I'll refrain from attending next year. I don't think that anything else has ever made me appreciate my family so much.
Monday morning, I got up, ran some errands and headed back to Peoria in order to do a bit of laundry before work on Tuesday.
The plan is to go to StL on Friday/Saturday for New Years at Matt and Beth's house. I need to find a pinata.
Time to see the doc.

I think next year we will remain in Deepwater for any of the following "reasons": flat tire, sicknees, bad weather, locusts... Or maybe we can just say we're there and go somewhere else. I think dental work without novacine would be preferable to holidays with my family again.
